Quality orthodontics, an achievable dream of a general dentist – Orthodontic course

Did I just mention Orthodontic course ? Wait what is that?

There are tons of courses out there for endodontics, full mouth rehabilitation, aesthetic dentistry & even implant dentistry or facial aesthetics (something that is rarely taught at the graduation level). Still many dentists with a graduate degree pursue short courses & fulfill their dream of practicing these branches.
However have you ever given it a thought, as to  why are there are only handful courses of orthodontics?

Dr Kaushal Kishore from POS progressive orthodontic seminars

In this episode I speak to Dr. Kaushal Kishore, a super energetic dentist from Chennai who not only pursued his dream of treating orthodontic cases but also became an international speaker for the POS training program. He has conducted orthodontic courses not only on India but also Singapore, Australia and through Europe.

Hope this episode will inspire a few dentists ! 🙂

Yes we have a great Orthodontic course for general dentists too !

Best branch or college for MDS is a very tricky question

A lot of students get confused about which is the best branch or college for MDS ?Hence we have come with this podcast for all the NEET MDS aspirants. In this episode we have discussed with the recently post graduated dentists & PG dental students about:

  1. How to fill the counseling form for MDS ?
  2. Must we choose the branch over college or vice versa ?
  3. What to expect during post graduation in orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, pedodontics etc.
  4. What to do if we have preference of 2 branches for example if we like both OS and orthodontics?
  5. Must we think about stipend / fee structure ?
  6. Should we select the branch according to future prospects ?
  7. Must we deicide a branch based on whether we are planning to start consultation or open a private clinic ?
  8. DR. RAJEEVE CHITGUPPI the pioneer of WHAT AFTER BDS shares his thoughts on WHY SUCCESS DOES NOT DEPEND ON THE BRANCH WE CHOOSE. (His talk will give you goose bumps)
  9. Must we think about selecting our college based on where we plan to start our practice in future ?
  10. When to think about appearing for NEET again next year? (When to take a drop for study)
  11. Government colleges VS private colleges.
  12. College recommendations from the PG students themselves.

Foodology by Dr Poonam Punjabi

I’ve always wanted to connect with a dentist having a parallel passion. So I set out on a journey to search for dentists interested in travel, music, health, fitness, arts, culture, motivation, social welfare, dance, music, photography, videography, Bollywood, Hollywood etc. Basically I am still on a quest to connect with as many dentists I can who follow a passion other that dentistry too.

One such dentist & my dear friend is Dr. Poonam Punjabi. I dont want to sound like I’m bragging but trust me I’ve been trying to reduce my weight since 3 tears now and not once did my weight reduce by more than 2 Kgs. I tried everything under the sun including diets, gymming, walking, running, swimming and even badminton. All I got was 1- 2 Kg loss and a calf muscle tear.

Once while returning home I met my friend Dr. Dheeraj punjabi outside the badminton court. I was shocked to see him. He was slim and fit which was totally not like how I had seen him the last time just 6-7 months back. I asked him if he joined a gym etc? He said he does try to be active but the main reason behind his weight loss was his wife, Dr. Poonam. I know both Poonam and Dheeraj because they are actually my course participants in dental photography.

So I had to meet poonam immediately and she suggested me a few routine tests after which I was on her diet plan. Trust me things started working out after that. Initially it was a bit tough, later looking at the results I felt more motivated to follow her religiously. In just 3 months I had lost 12 Kgs. It was nothing short of a miracle for me. Besides the best part was I got to eat more frequently ! Yes you heard it right. I was probably eating more frequently that I routinely did.

Sounds interesting right?

Lets try and find out more as I interview Dr. Poonam Punjabi dentist having a parallel passion in health, fitness and nutrition LIVE on YouTube. Do keep your diet, health and fitness related questions handy !!

Please note that I was completely illiterate about implants when I went to him so the initial topics might be pretty basic for many. It was totally enlightening for me and I have to say I learnt way more than I had expected.
I’ll be presenting multiple episodes on various topics I discussed with him in the forthcoming weeks!

In this episode I learnt about –

  1. Why learning Implants was so critical for me!
  2. WHY IMPLANTS – a comparison between implant VS other modes of tooth replacement.
  3. Complete dentures VS overdentures
  4. How to go about learning implants

I am sure this episode will help the students of implantology.

Overview to Occlusion in dentistry P1 by Dr.Moez Khakiani on the 32 MINUTE

In my previous interview with Dr. Moez Khakiani we spoke about Material choices in Fixed prosthodontics. In this dental podcast we discuss about Occlusion in dentistry. Yes, not only in fixed prosthodontics but universally occlusion plays a vital role in all branches. According to Moez occlusion connects all branches on dentistry together. A failure to understand occlusion either before or after a procedure might create an iatrogenic issue. We cover vital aspects like

  • How to understand occlusion before starting a case.
  • What is occlusion
  • Interference & Guidance
  • Articulating paper VS articulating foils
  • Static VS dynamic occlusion and
  • in the end a casual Rapid fire round !!

Occlusion in dentistry is a LANDMARK episode for me because this is the 1st episode recorded in my studio. You can appreciate the high voice quality which is far more superior than online interviews. The biggest difference is however interviewing face to face, it is so comfortable & there’s definitely a connect that was missing in online interviews at least in my opinion
